Turmeric, black pepper and healthy fats are best friends when it comes to nutrient bioavailability to the body. You may already use this almost magical combination in something like my Spiced Golden Turmeric Milk, but here it is used with naturally gluten-free chickpea flour (besan/gram) to make crisp-edged filling farinata (savory pancakes). Top with whatever you fancy, but we like this combination with smoked salmon and raw veggies. It gets an extra fillip of tang and nutrition from the turmeric and lemon dressing. Vegetarians and vegans, sub out the salmon for avocado. Breakfast, brunch, lunch or a light supper - farinatas are always welcome.

Elevate humble potatoes by pan-frying until crispy, adding some roasted broccoli and doting over homemade vegan aioli, made with aquafaba. A wonderful side dish, or make into a light supper with the addition of a poached egg.

Despite the slightly dull but curiously pretentious name, this potato, broccoli and garlic mayo recipe is anything but either of these descriptions. Take the new potatoes: boiled in their feathery skins and slathered in best butter or olive oil they are essentially perfect – especially if you are lucky enough to be able to dig your own …

Falafels as waffles is a thing. This is because anything as waffles is a thing. People are waffling grilled cheese (standard), mac and cheese, tamales, frittatas, hash browns, polenta, crab cakes – you get the idea. However, if you are craving something healthy, lightly spiced, not too carby, but still very much waffle-shaped, grab your waffle iron, open that …

You could be forgiven for thinking that the only cake I know how to do is a polenta one. I do do others, but it is hard to get past the fact that polenta cakes are stupidly easy to make, easily gluten-free, keep phenomenally well and are extremely versatile. Matcha tea and passion fruit? Yep. Vanilla and …

How to Eat Flower Sprouts – For Breakfast! Anyone who follows me on Instagram cannot fail to have noticed that I am a tad obsessed with flower sprouts. So much so that I even snack on them – crisped from a quick roasting and dunked in hummus. “But Kellie, isn’t this a bit strange? Nice …

Despite living in Britain for over 25 years I have not quite adopted the local Christmas custom of whipping up batches of mince pies. All of that rolling and stamping out dough makes me want to break out in a not very festive sweat. But plenty of people do, so these small fruity hand pies are at absolutely …
